Ideal for sun-facing walls, façades, fences, sheds, garden offices and larger balconies where conventional rigid panels may be impractical. Each panel weighs just 3.5 kg.

Made for Sun-Facing Surfaces: The four-panel layout makes Storm 710W particularly suited to larger south, south-east or south-west facing surfaces. Spread the panels across an available wall, fence or other suitable area to make better use of otherwise unused space around your home.

Simple Plug-In Solar: Connect the panels to the Hoymiles microinverter using the supplied cables, then plug the system directly into a standard UK socket using the fused 3-pin AC cable. No dedicated solar circuit or complicated electrical installation required.

Smart Energy Monitoring: Built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connect the system to the S-Miles Home app, allowing you to monitor solar generation from your phone. The Hoymiles microinverter delivers up to 96.7% peak efficiency and 99.8% MPPT efficiency.

Yes. Storm 710W is a complete UK plug-in solar kit designed to generate electricity directly into your home through a standard UK 3-pin socket. It combines four flexible solar panels, a Hoymiles microinverter and a fused UK AC connection cable.

What is the difference between Storm 360W and Storm 710W?
Storm 710W uses four flexible solar panels instead of two, making it better suited to larger available surfaces and households looking for greater solar generation potential. Storm 360W is particularly compact for balconies and smaller spaces, while Storm 710W works well across sunny walls, fences, sheds and larger outdoor areas.

Where can I install the Storm 710W panels?
The lightweight flexible panels are particularly suited to sun-facing walls, façades, fences, sheds, garden offices, balconies and other suitable outdoor surfaces. Each panel weighs only 3.5 kg, making Storm useful in locations where heavier rigid solar panels may be impractical.

Does Storm 710W need a south-facing surface?
No. A south-facing installation will generally provide the strongest annual solar exposure in the UK, but south-east and south-west facing locations can also perform well. Actual generation depends on orientation, shading, panel angle, location and weather.

Do I need an electrician to install Storm 710W?
No. Storm 710W is designed for straightforward DIY plug-in installation. Secure the panels in a suitable location, connect the supplied cables to the microinverter and plug the fused UK 3-pin cable into a suitable household socket.

How do four solar panels connect to the microinverter?
The kit includes the required DC connection cables to connect the four Storm panels to the Hoymiles microinverter. The microinverter then converts the panels' DC electricity into AC electricity for use in your home.

How do I monitor my solar generation?
The Hoymiles microinverter includes built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and works with the S-Miles Home app. You can monitor generation and system performance from your phone.

Do I need to notify my DNO?
Yes. Plug-in solar remains subject to the applicable G98/DNO notification process. Thunder provides guidance with every Storm system to make this process straightforward.

What AC cable length is included?
A 5m single-piece AC connection cable is supplied as standard. An optional 10m single-piece AC cable is available if you need additional reach, replacing the standard 5m cable without requiring a separate extension lead.

Can I add a battery later?
Yes. If you want to store surplus solar generation for use later in the day, the system can be upgraded with compatible battery storage. The Storm Plus range combines Storm solar with the Hoymiles HiBattery 1920 AC.

    Self-consumption rate: Winter 100% / Summer 60% (blended 73%). Midday summer output exceeds typical household base load, so a share of generation cannot be used on site.

    Annual consumption: 2,700 kWh (Ofgem typical medium household). Winter 60% / Summer 40%.

    Electricity tariff: 26 p/kWh (Ofgem price cap, July 2026), 3% annual inflation assumed.

    Export: No export income is included in this projection.
